Day 04. North Fork, Idaho to Dillon, Montana. 124 miles.

Woke up late, after a wonderful sleep in that quiet valley!
Dave had the coffee going, so we helped ourselves and sat on the veranda of their lovely house for a chat, with the sun up already and showing off that beautiful scene. I’d hoped for a quick glimpse of some elk or something but we are too late and probably too early in the season to be sure of a sighting.
Robin made us a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, potatoes, salsa and it was delicious! I had two large helpings, wolfed down with 2 more mugs of coffee! 🙂
It was a gorgeous, crisp, morning with blue skies and just the gentlest of breezes. We played ball with Maddie on the front lawn, next to Robin’s beautiful garden.
Man, I could do this kind of lifestyle! Karen? Probably not…she needs people around her more than I do. People laugh when I say that I’m an introvert, but it’s true. I need my alone time to recharge. I guess that comes with being an only child with no brothers or sisters or people noise around during my formative years. Karen needs her people around her to recharge, and could never be happy living somewhere out in the “boondocks” no matter how beautiful the environment. Oh, well….we both compromise at times!
Dave then showed me his solar system and his large workshop/garage. Inside the workshop was parked his GM Prowler, a very stylish Souther California Custom styled car that GM built for just a couple of years. Awesome! He told me a funny story about him and Art doing a “high speed run” in that car. I won;t share the details here, but it was hilarious!
After a few quick pics, we packed up and headed on out for our last segment of the trip to Dillon, Montana.

The scenery was, again, just spectacular!

We stopped at the Big Hole National Battlefield to take in the history of that event. The visitor Center was closed but we were still able to view the valley below where the fighting occurred. Such a beautiful location belied the misery that happened on that soil.

We arrived at the Countryside RV Park in Dillon, Montana in the early afternoon. A nice little campground, just off the secondary highway. Some traffic noise, as usual, but not too bad. We’d asked for a spot on the side furthest from the road, so that helped a little.
Looks like a nice spot for the next 30 days!
